Coming to Britain

Lightseekers worked with eight students, year 5 (aged 9) at Abbey Primary school, to interview elders and collect family stories of migration into Britain. We aimed to enhance intergenerational communication between students and elders, whilst encouraging understanding of different cultural experiences. Students participated in workshops on sound editing, deconstructing narratives, interviewing techniques and storytelling through photographs.

This project resulted in a number of outcomes, including five photo films, an exhibition and students were interviewed by BBC Radio Leicester.
